I was just talking to Jenn about this today and I cannot get it out of my head... I was asking her if she thought her b/f would like to go white water rafting. (Tim and I might go for our anny) Anyway Jenn said no he doesn't like the outdoors. But he does like games he is very competitive, so I told her we could turn it into a weekend long Survivor. They they would have to build a fire and catch fish with there bare hands... there are all kinds of things I could come up with. Then I told her that we (her and I) would be wearing coconut bras and cheering out men on. LOL! It would be super fun.

Tim and I took Lily to the Children's Museum in Richmond on Sunday and we all had a great time. That place is great for kids and parents. I was worried that there would be much for Lily to do but I was wrong. There was a ton of stuff there for Lily. Tim and I took turns following Lily around. We pretty much let her run around and do what she wanted. I would recommend to parents who have children between the ages 1 and 8 to take them there. It has been so cold here and we didn't do a whole lot with Lily over the holiday so it have her a good chance to burn off some built up energy. I know that she has missed all of her friends at daycare. Tim and I think that we will hold her birthday party there next year.

To Cut or Not to Cut... That IS the Question!

I know some of you have started to notice that Lily is at a crossroads when it comes to hair styles. To no fault of her own she has started to develop a Mullet... ok maybe it is more of a Scullet. She doesn't have very much hair on the top of her head but a good amount in the back, that seems to get longer everyday. Now if I continue to let this grow I going to have to live with the lasting effects it could have on Lily when she gets older and sees that I let her run around with a baby Mullet.

Lets just say I do decide to cut it... do I do it my self? I have no hair cutting experience... or do I take her some where to get it cut? Also if I do take her some where to get it cut are they going to look at me like I am crazy when they see that she hardly has any hair to start with? Any and all opinions on this are welcome.

BLACK FRIDAY!

That's right... Some of you might think man is she crazy but I am not. This is the one day a year I get to be totally devoted to shopping and I am not alone. Some of the sales are great and I get about 75 - 85% of my Christmas shopping done. Now I may have posted the guidelines for success when shopping on "Black Friday" before, but as an early gift to you all I will do a recap.

Black Friday Guidelines
1. Make a detailed list of who you need to shop for.
2. In your list include items that you want for each person.
3. Check Black Friday sales.
4. Pre shop ( this way you know right where to find the item you need so you don't waste at lot of time looking around.)
5. Shop at a mall or large grouping of stores so you don't have to do any driving around.
6. Find a good friend that will go with you.
7. Get up way early like around 4 so that you can be on location at least 30-45 minutes before they open. (You want to have a good spot in like)

This is the most important guideline.

8. Buy your self something first. (Once you get your self out of the way you will be free to shop for others.)
9. Try to finish up your shopping by 9 or 10 am at the latest. Then go and enjoy and nice breakfast with your shopping team.

Black Friday Shopping Do's
- Have a meeting place to meet up with your shopping team members should you be divided by the crowds.
- Get coffee on your way to wait in line. ( This will help wake you up and keep you warm while you wait outside.)
- Wear comfortable shoes, there will be lots of walking and maybe even some running.
- Having a map of the mall helps.
- Have fun!

Black Friday's Don'ts
- Don't take small children or whinny husbands.
- Don't wear to many layers, you will get over heated and have to end up carring all of your layers once you take them off.
- Don't drink to large of a coffee in the morning or you will have to stop and pee... this will waste precious time.
- Don't dress in matching outfits with your shopping team... this causes other people to point and laugh.
- Don't be out to late shopping... after 8 or 9 the sales start to really go down and that is when all the other people start coming out to shop.

Do not go anywhere near and K-Mart, Wal-Mart or a Best Buy on this day. People die... I mean really people have died... if you need something from them on this day order it online.

The Great Gift Exchange!

Ok so I don't know about you guys but for Tim and I this year money is tight... I came across a great site that I think will help all of my family to save money this holiday season and still have a lot of fun. I am partaking in a online book club gift exchange and they are using a site called elfster. Pretty much it is an online way to set up a gift exchange. I am hoping over Thanksgiving to talk my family into doing this. I feel like I would much rather spend $50 or $60 on one really nice gift for some one then try and spend $10 on impersonal gifts for every person. I have been looking at the site and it is pretty easy to use... you set up your own guide lines for the gift exchange like : Gift exchange date, spending limit, theme (if you want one). The person who sets up the exchange enters every one's e-mail address and then the elfster will send out an e-mail to each person telling them who they are to buy for. Each person has there own account and can put in there shipping address (for people out of town) and notes about what they do or don't like. There is also a wish list where you can mention things that you would like to receive. Another cool thing about this site is you can ask your person questions through elfster if you need a better idea of what to get them. I am really hoping that everyone goes for this idea this year. I think it will be a lot of fun and save us all a lot of money.

This is just too funny I have to share... So I was reading a post form thenest... anyway this woman was arguing with her husband weather or not he would be able to tackle a Giraffe. The husband seemed to think that he could... So she asked all the other ladies to ask there husband if they think they would be able to tackle a Giraffe... The responses were pretty funny. So I texted Tim this morning and this was what he said.

Me: Could you tackle a giraffe?

Tim: probably...why?

Me: LOL! yeah right!

Tim: I'd totally kick that things ass

So all morning I have been trying to picture Tim trying to tackle a Giraffe LOL!

Wonderful Pumpkin Weekend

The Hanson family had a wonderful weekend of carving pumpkins. Tim's dad Rob came up for a visit. Friday he spent the day with Shannon seeing the sights in Washington Dc... from what they said they had a wonderful time. Saturday Tim and his dad went to play around of golf with Jon and George. They rain did hold out for a bit but I think they only got 14 or 15 holes in. But they still had a great time. Lily and I didn't do to much on Sat while the guys were golfing... Saturday evening was nice. After Tim and his dad returned home soaking wet from there golf game Shannon came down. We had a nice family dinner and after that we all cleared the table and carved pumpkins. I put Lily in her Halloween outfit, thinking that I would be able to get some cute pictures but no luck she wasn't really in to the pumpkins this year. She didn't like the feel of the pumpkin guts lol. All the pumpkins did turn out really well. Oh also I made my first but surely not my last pumpkin pie this year. We ended the night playing cards and eating pie. It was really nice to have a family night with Rob and Shannon. Sunday Rob treated use all for lunch before he headed back down the road to Florida.

We don't have a whole lot going on this week but are looking forward to Saturday. Lily is going to a toddler Halloween party that one of the parents from our daycare is having. Tim and I really enjoy watching Lily play and interact with other kids her age.

I use to have this sweet lovely child living at my house but now I have a whiny grumpy little person driving me crazy. I don't know what is up with Lily she has been no fun the past two days. I get her home from daycare and she is just super whiny and nothing makes her happy. I feel bad that she is so miserable but she is making all of us miserable. Last night she was really nice an woke Tim and I up from 2:30 to 3:30... I tell you it was really nice to have a good hour break from a otherwise restful night of sleep. I get her to daycare this morning and she is happy running around playing with her friends and teacher. Tim and I are starting to think that maybe she doesn't like us anymore. Tim's dad Rob is coming to stay at our house for a few days to visit. I am hoping that tonight will be a better night or he might want to pack up and stay at a hotel lol! I am wondering if she is getting some of her back teeth in. I mean she doesn't have a fever or even a runny nose. I told Tim last night I was going to go ahead and let the fairs take her lol! He didn't think that was too funny at 3:00 am this morning.

So this summer I totally got into the Twilight Saga... thank you Nikki and Grandma haha. I loved it and I also was able to get Jenn, Shannon M and my mother-in-law to read them as well. Jenn Grandma, Danielle and I are all Team Edward haha. Jenn and Nikki are Team Jacob. Jenn is planning a New Moon party for when the movie comes out in Nov. I really hope this movie is better then the Twilight movie. Well after reading the 4 Twilight books I was looking for something classic to read so I picked up Wuthering Heights. It was a long hard read for me but I stuck with it and I am glad. I had no idea what the book was about other then some kind of love story. Then when I was done with that I picked up The Time Traveler's Wife. I have to say I didn't enjoy this book at all. The story was kind of hard to follow because of the time changing back and forth. Before I read the book I was looking forward to seeing the movie but since I read the book I really have no interest in seeing the movie.

I have recently started a new series called Outlander. There are 7 books in this series so far and I think there will be an 8th. This first book in the series is called Outlander oh and is written by Diana Gabaldon. The main characters are Clair and Jaime. It took me a good 100 -200 pages to really get into this book but once I did I totally fell head over heels in love with it. I am now getting read to finish the second book in this series and am looking forward to starting the 3rd some time this week. I have recommended Outlander to Jenn and Shannon H (my sister-in-law) and so far both really seem to be enjoying it as much as I have.

I know it has been like 5 months almost 1/2 a year since a last wrote... what can I say I have been busy... not really I have been lazy when it comes to blogging. I wish I would have kept up with it better.

Life is good all is well. Tim and I are doing wonderful and Lily continues to grow and enrich our lives every day. She just turned a year old on Oct 4th. Tim and I hosted a Picnic in the Park themed birthday party for her. It was a lot of fun, the weather was great and lots of her friends from the daycare showed up. We all really enjoyed watching Lily play with her friends. She is not only walking but running now. She talks a lot but doesn't say many words. She does say Dadada da all the time and also out side. haha Lily and Bristol are great friends and share many meals together lol.

Life is good!

4 Years and Counting

Today is our four year anniversary, and I love Tim more today then I did yesterday. Everyday Tim does something that makes me fall in love with him all over again. I feeling truly lucky to have him as a husband and I know one day Lily will feel just as lucky to have him as a father. This past year has had a lot of ups and down and Tim is always there by my side. We are enjoying watching Lily grow and we cherish all of her milestones together.

Lily's First Swim Lesson.

This past Saturday Tim and I took Lily for her first swim lesson and as you can see she loved it. I think Tim also had a great time. Lily is getting so big everyday she does something new. She is now able to sit her self up so every time we go to get her out of her crib there she is just sitting up waiting for us.

Ok so I know it has been a month since the last time I wrote on here. I just don't seem to have much to say anymore. I could write all about Lily but even that get old after a while. I think I am in a new mom slump. There have been lots of new things going on.

Lily is 7 months old today... and so far we are both still alive so Tim and I must be doing something right lol. She is growing right along. She weighs about 17 lbs and has recently taken up LOW CRAWLING. Yeah she does the best Army low crawl I have ever seen. I think soon she will be getting up on her Knees. Tim and I find ourselves running around picking up all of the dogs toys. Those seem to be her favorite things to play with. I don't know if any of you have seen Bristol's chew toys but they are not exactly the cleanest lol.

Last weekend I stopped nursing Lily. It was a hard decision to make but I felt it was time. I have been sharing my body for the last 15 months or so it is time to take it back. I am hoping now that I have stopped nursing that I will be able to shed a few pounds. While nursing I was hungry all the time. This first week went ok, I got really sick with a sinus infection so I didn't have much time or energy to think about nursing. Lily doesn't seem to notice that we have stopped nursing. She will still continue to get brestmilk for another week or two because I had such a great freezer stash. We have already started mixing in some formula with her bottles so when we change over it will not be a drastic change.

Tim and I are planning a trip to Vegas in early Sept. We are going for his 30th birthday. That is right Tim is going to be 30 years old this year. Again how time flies. I meant Tim 6 days before my 21st birthday and I will be 28 this year. Also this month is our 4 yr anniversary. It doesn't seem like we have been married for 4 years already but I guess that is a good thing. Well that is about it for me.

I will try harder to do more on my blog, sorry guys.

Motivation

I have no motivation! I really want to lose weight because I am just tired of the way my body looks. I know that I will never have the same body I had before I had Lily and I am ok with that. I thought breastfeeding was going to help me lose weight but I am hungry all the time. I mean ALL the time. Lily will be 6 months on Sat so I am thinking of weaning her but I feel like the only reason I want to do that is so I can start to diet.

Well I find my self pretty busy with day to day life and I have forgotten to blog... So sorry. Lets see what is new with me? Well not a whole lot I guess, Tim and I are doing well we are planing a trip to Vegas in late Aug or Sept. Tim will be 30 this year. Oh how time flys, and we are coming up on our 4 yr anniversary in May. It is hard to believe we have been married 4 yrs already. We just got a copy of our wedding video in the mail the other day from my Uncle Paul. (Thanks for all of your hard work.) Tim and I look so young and silly in our video but it was fun to watch. I forgot just how much dancing we did... lol.

Work is going well for Tim and I both we are lucky that way with some many people losing there jobs. I really feel for all of the families out there.

Lily is wonderful as always. She will be 6 months old in just about a week or so. It seems just like yesterday that Tim and I were wondering if she was ever going to come out lol. When Lily was born I set a goal to breastfeed for 6 months and I am so close to making it and I am really proud of my self. I really think that this has been one of the hardest things I have had to do. There has been lots of ups and downs but with lots of support from Tim, family and friends I have been able to successfully nurse. I am not sure when I will be done nursing, I thought when the 6 month mark hit I would be ready but now that it is just about her and things are going pretty well for us I am thinking about continuing for a few more months. I don't know if I will be able to make it a whole year but we will see.

Here are some of the new things Lily can do.
Roll over front to back and back to front.
Sit up by her self for a few minutes.
laugh (it melts your heart)
Reach for things.
Has 2 teeth and is getting a third.

I am sure I am forgetting lots of things.

The other kids (Tina and Bristol) are doing well. They are still really a big part of our family and Tim and I try to make sure that we give them plenty of attention. Tina really loves Lily and Lily loves Tina's bark and her tail. Bristol just loves Lily's toys haha he things they should all be his. Now that Lily is starting to eat some foods the dogs are starting to pay more attention to her. Bristol just turned 3 in Jan and Tina will be 6 this year...

Oh so now I am totally into face book I love how easy it is to put pictures up so that is why I haven't been putting as many up here. I have been trying to talk Jenn in to getting a face book but she doesn't see the need. So I think we should all commit on her blog telling her to get a face book account.

We took Lily to get her ears pierced yesterday. She didn't really like it but after about ten minutes she was find and they look so cute!

Not So Merry Christmas

The past week has been a long one for us. Poor Lily hasn't been feeling good. It started last Tuesday she was pretty fussy which is really un like her. So I stayed home with her on Wednesday (Christmas Eve) and she was just getting more and more fussy so I took her temp and it was 102, so off to the ER we went. I was pretty upset I felt so bad for her. When we got to MWH they took us right back and thank god my sister in-law Shannon was there so I didn't have to be alone. They took some blood from Lily and her white blood cell count was up so they had to draw spinal fluid to find out what was wrong with her. At this point Tim was there and poor Lily wouldn't eat so she was starting to become dehydrated. They tried to give her an IV but were unable to get one started. I felt so bad for her. By 7 pm we were admitted and they told us we were going to have to stay for a few days to see what the test results were from her spinal fluid. They kept trying to get an IV started but failed every time. They tried 16 different times, 2 time in each hand 2 times in each arm 4 times in her scalp, once in each ankle and once in each foot. Since they still didn't have an IV and she wasn't eating they also put in a feeding tube (this is around 1 or 2 am) they tried to put an IV in to the bone in her leg, this is every painful and they are not able to give her any pain medicine. I had to leave the room for many of these things I just couldn't stand seeing them hurt my baby. The IV in the bone worked for about 5 minutes and then stopped so they had to take it out. At that point they told us there were going to have to send us to a different hospital b/c there was nothing more they could do for her there. Tim and I were upset and we were so tired and just wanted Lily to be ok so we deiced to go to MCV and around 6 am they transported Lily and I in an ambulance. Tim followed in the car. After we got to MCV things really turned around they said that she had an ear infection and it hurt for her to eat. They have her some ear drops to numb her hears and she started eating right away. Tim and I were so relieved after a couple of hours you could see that she was feeling much better. Everyone at MCV was so nice and they really took great care of Lily. It was hard being there on Christmas day but we were just glad that Lily was getting better. We got to go home on Friday. She still isn't her self but she is getting better. We are all hoping that next Christmas is much better. Her are some pictures of our hospital stay.

First Day Back to Work

Well today is my first day back to work and I feel like I am doing ok... Lily got up at 5 am so I feed her and got her all ready for her big day and we got out of the house by 5:45 I think we did pretty well. She was asleep when I dropped her of so I felt pretty good leaving her there. Her daycare isn't far from work so I went over at 11 today to feed her and she seemed happy so that makes me happy.

Be Thankful for your Family

This has been a long week for our family. My uncle Brian found out last Monday that he has a very large brain tumor on the right front side of his brain. This news took everyone by surprise. Brian is only 28 years old, and other then the tumor he is a healthy guy. Him and his wife Lisa were in the middle of moving when he found out about the tumor. Tim and I with many other from my family spend the weekend with Brain and Lisa helping to get there new house set up. Brian went in for surgery to have the tumor removed this pass Monday. We were all there to help support Lisa and Brian through this terrible time. Brian's surgery went pretty well, but he still has lots of test to go through before we really know what kind of Cancer the tumor is, after that they will talk about what kind of treatment he will have to go through to have a full recovery. So far Brian is doing really well and has been moved out of ICU and into a regular room. He still has lots of family there to support him and Lisa. Lisa seems to be doing really well with every thing, much better then I think I would.

One Month Old

I took Lily to her one month doctors appointment yesterday. It went pretty well until they gave her a shot in the leg, it just about broke my heart. She weighs 11 lb and 6 oz. She has put on 2 pounds in 2 weeks so she must be eating pretty well haha. She is 22 3/4 inches long. She also peed all over the nurse when she was weighing her. Lily has been doing really well, last night we feed her around 8:30 and she was asleep by 9:15 and did not get up until 4 this morning... I don't know to may 1 month old babies that sleep that well through the night. Tim and I know that we are pretty lucky.

Things have been going pretty good. My grandma comes over everyday during the weeks for a few hours to give me a hand. It has been such a big help having her here. I don't know if I would have made it through the first week without her. It is nice to just have some one who can reassure you that you are doing a good job. Tim has been doing a great job as well, he has been the one giving Lily her bath it is still a bit hard for me to bend over the tub. Tim spends lots of time with Lily when he gets home from work and has been putting her down at night so I can get to bed a bit before her. She sleeps really well at night, I only have to get up once or twice. I think we were pretty lucky that she was so big when she was born. I think bigger babies tend to sleep longer haha. I feel like I am recovering pretty well, I have lost about 35 pounds so I am less then 10 pounds from where I was when I got pregnant. That is a good feeling but my body sure doesn't look the same haha I don't know if it ever will.

Thanks to everyone for all of your support this past year it has really meant a lot to Tim and I.

Baby Lily

She will be her tomorrow some time. I am 1 week over due so they are going to induce me tomorrow. Not really something I wanted to do, I really wanted her to come on her own, but it looks like this is the only way we will get to meet her. I am pretty nervous and I am totally grateful for all the support I have received from my family and friends. I have to send out a special thanks to Tim. He has does so much to help me thought the past 9 months and he has never once complained. I couldn't ask for a more understanding partner. I think the moment I am looking forward to the most is when Tim gets to hold his child for the first time. I know this is something that we have created together but in some way I feel like it is a gift that I am giving him. He has wanted to be a father for a while now and I know he is going to be great.

How Does That Feel?

Ok, I know that I am not a small person and really for the most part I am ok with that... But Monday I went in to my OBGYN for one of my checks ups and the nurse that called me back is new there and I have had her once before and she got my chart mixed up with some one else so I already didn't care for her too much. Well I go to the bathroom, get my BP taken and then I have to get on the scale. This is the same thing I have to do every time I go in, no big deal. Well after I get off the scale this nurse is saying my weight out loud as she is writing it down in my chart and really I am ok with that but she says it 3 times and then looks as me and says "How does that feel?" There are like 2 or 3 other nurses standing around in this area. I said "How does what feel?" She said "How does it feel to weight ###?" Is it just me or was she way out of line? Am I so big that she cannot even imagine what it must feel like to weight that much to the point where she just has to ask? I told her" It feels great now that you have announced to everyone in the area several times!" I mean really what was she expecting me to say. Oh it feels great to be as big as a house thanks for pointing it out. I mean this girl works with pg women all day long is she that rude to all of the peoples charts she pulls or did I just get lucky.

4 Cups Fruit
1/2 Cup Sugar
1/2 Cup Butter
1 Cup Flour
1 Cup Sugar
1/2 tsp Salt
1 1/2 tsp Baking Powder
3/4 Milk

Combine fruit and 1/2 cup of sugar, let stand 10 minutes.Melt butter in 12 X 8 X 2 baking dish; set aside.Combine flour, 1 cup sugar, baking powder and salt in mixing bowl; add milk and mix well.Pour batter into baking dish.Pour fruit mixture evenly over batter, do not stir.Bake at 375 degrees for 50 minutes or until golden brown.

Baby is on the Move

I forgot to mention that the other night Tim got to see and feel Lily move. He was pretty excited about it. Also our crib came yesterday, things are starting to come together. I want to thank Paula and Rob for the crib. We are going to wait until we get the nursery painted before we set it up but we hope to have it all together by the end of June. Tim has been working his butt off trying to get everything done. When we have it all together I will be sure to post some pictures.

3 years ago to this very day I made the best decision of my life. I married Tim!

I meant Tim 6 days before my 21st birthday, and I had no idea I would spend the rest of my life with him. On one of our first dates Tim told me that he could really see things working out with us, at that point I thought man is this guy really trying this line on me LOL, but I guess it worked. I know in the grand scheme of things that we haven't been together that long but we have been through a lot. We had only been dating for 8 months when I went to Iraq. Tim was only 23 at the time. Most 23 yrs wouldn't have waited around, but he did. He was very supportive, more then I could have asked for. I did a lot of changing while I was overseas and when it was time for me to come back I wasn't the same person, It was a really hard me. I ended things with Tim 2 months before I came home. I didn't think we would ever really talk again. But after being home for a few weeks, Tim called me and wanted to get together and talk. At the time I didn't realize how much I really needed some one to talk to. I really fell in love with Tim at this point... after being gone for a year and ending things with him (not on good terms) he still loved me, ( I know this sounds so like a chick flick but it is true) I knew I would never in a million years find someone who will love me for the completely non-perfect person I am, the way that Tim loves me.

I am lucky to have him I may try and act like I am independent but the truth is Tim is my everything, with out him I wouldn't be able to function. This pass year has been a hard one, but never has our love or friendship been stronger.

Shopping For Lily

Well I think that I am just about done with registering for the baby shower. It was a lot harder then you would think.... I guess the whole world thinks if you are having a girl that you want everything to be pink... You know some of us out there really like purple... I had such a hard time finding things in purple but with some hard work and help from family and friends I think I have found most of what I was looking for. Oh and thanks to Erin I was able to find a crib set that I really like. Tim and I went to Babies R Us before we knew what the sex was because I wanted to make sure that most of the big things were neutral, that way if we have a second child we will be able to use the same stuff for a boy or a girl. Here are some of the things we picked out.

Tim and I went for our U/S yesterday... It went really well we got to see her hands, feet and much more. The tech didn't have a great look at her goods but she gave us a 75% chance of having a girl. Well after many long hours of hard labor my sister Danielle gave birth to a perfect baby girl. She was born at 2:46 am on April 18th. She weighed 8 pounds 7 oz. For those of you who know Danielle you may be wondering how such a small person gave birth to such a big baby. Well let me tell you it wasn't easy. Danielle had a very long and hard labor but she did wonderful. I am so proud and amazed by her. I am also grateful that I was able to be there for her. I have to say Chris her fiance, did a wonderful job as well. Thanks to all of Chris's family for being there. I know that really means a lot to Danielle. Taking a Trip to Az

I will be getting up early tomorrow to catch a flight to Tucson, AZ. My sister Danielle is going to be induced tomorrow at 8:00 am. My flight should arrive in Tucson around 9:40 am and I think the airport is only 10 minutes away from the hospital. So I am hoping to get there before any of the action starts haha. I know Danielle is really excited and nervous at the same time, but I think she is going to do great. I am a bit nervous myself, I hope I don't get in there and start thinking OH God what have I done... but I guess there is nothing that can you more ready for child birth then a practice run. Danielle just started her own blog last week, I have a link on my blog, so if you could please stop by her blog and give her some words of encouragement. I will be sure to post some pictures of the baby when I get back.

Things are Changing

Well, things are changing at the Hanson house. My sister-in-law will be moving this weekend. She found a really nice newly remodeled apartment for her and Pearl. Well will have a busy weekend helping her move and getting her settled in. I know she is really looking forward to having her own place. Also my father-in-law Rob will be up to help with the move. It will be nice to see him. I think that last time we saw him was last May at Shannon's graduation. I know Tim misses his dad and really looks forward to seeing him. So everyone please wish Shannon good luck in her new apartment. I will have to see if she will be up for having a house warming party, maybe some time in May.

Also Tim is going to start painting some of the rooms in our house. We plan to start transforming the office into baby Hanson's bedroom. I am still not sure what colors I want to do in there. I think we are going to try and paint the guess bedroom, guess bathroom and the soon to be nursery. Tim makes it sound so easy but to me it seems like a big task. haha But Tim is really good at fixing things around the house, painting and hanging pictures. That is one of the things I love about him.

Guess Bedroom
I am thinking about doing a slat blue in the guess bedroom, it has white carpet...which if I ever pick out carpet for a house I will never have white again. What a pain. I will see if I can find some pictures to put up like Erin did of the colors I like. I will have to accent with white but what other color should I accent with. I don't want to much white in there b/c I don't want people who stay in there to feel uncomfortable. You know what I mean.

Guess Bathroom
I would like to do a coco/rich sand color ( I am making up the color names haha) on the walls and maybe accent with a rust color, here again any ideals will be great.

Nursery
If we go ahead and paint the walls a tan color we can go back and do a boarder of pale lavender for a girl or a soft ocean blue/green for a boy. Maybe get dark wood for the crib. Thses are just some of the ideas I have. I would love to hear every one's ideas.

Things went great at the doctors yesterday. Paula is in town this week so she also got to come to the appointment with Tim and I and hear the babies heartbeat. It was really strong and fast. I wish we could have listened longer haha. We will be going back in about 4 weeks.

Going to the Doctors Today

Tim and I have a doctors appointment today. We should be able to hear the babies heart beat for the first time. This is a big deal for Tim and I.... I wish I could go now but our appointment isn't until 4 pm. Wish us luck.

12 Weeks Today

I am really happy to be 12 weeks along today. That means for the most part I am out of the clear of having another miscarriage. Also it is the last week of the first trimester and everyone tells me that it will get easier from this point on. Tim and I have a doctors appointment nest week and we should be able to hear the heartbeat for the first time. Tim and I have been doing a lot of talking and I think that we have deiced to find out that the sex of the baby will be. We still have about 2 months before that happens. Time seems to be going by really fast, I feel like I just found out I was pg a week ago but it has been 2 months.

Big News

That's right Tim and I are expecting. We are really excited, we found out last week. We talked about keeping the news to our self's because of the miscarriage we had back in October but we are just so excited we couldn't wait to share the news. I am around 5 weeks or so... still really early. Our baby will be due the end of September. Please keeps us in your thoughts.

Movie Weekend

I went to the movies twice this weekend, but I saw the same movie both times. PS I love you, was such a great movie. Tim and I went to lunch on Saturday and then went to the movies. Tim let me pick the movie and he was a really trooper seeing how he and one other guy were the only men in the whole movie theater haha. I must have just been in a weepy mood because every 5 min I was crying. Poor Tim! Well the movie was so good I talked Jenn and her sister Lindy into going on Sunday and Shannon H joined us. I didn't cry as much but still really enjoyed the movie. So if anyone else would like to go see this movie let me know I will be glad to see it again

The Good and the Bad of 2007

Lets start with the bad.

I lost a friend. Sadly my friends Danielle Wilson past away last February. She is truly missed by all who knew her.

I had a really big falling out with most of my close family. I wish things could have been different. Sometimes words can cause a lot of pain. I hope that time really does heal all wounds.

We had to watch one of my friends send her husband off to Kuwait for a year. I know it has been hard for her but she has been able to stay pretty strong.

Also another friend of mine had to send her sister off to Kuwait for a year. She has not only had to be supportive of her sister leaving but also she has had to take care of her mother who is having a really hard time with the deployment.

We also have missed Leila who is serving in Iraq. She is missed by her husband and two kids. Her family and friends can hardly wait for her return.

Tim was out of the country for over 2 months. It was really hard having him be gone that long. I really missed him this summer.

Back in October Tim and I dealt with having an early miscarriage. That was never anything I thought I would have to go through. It took a much bigger toll on Tim and I then we could have imagined.

OK and now for the Good.

My friend Shannon was blessed with a baby girl in February named Kendall. She has added so much to our life that I can only wonder how great it has been for Shannon.

Tim was able to hang up his uniform and join the civilian work force. Although he had to change jobs 3 times I think he has found one that he is happy with. He also will not have to do any more traveling.

My sister-in-law Shannon graduated from College in May and made a big move by coming to Va.

While Tim was over in England I got the opportunity to visit him and we took a trip to Paris. It was like having a second honeymoon.

Shannon (sister-in-law) was offered two wonderful positions and was able to except one and is enjoying her new career.

Tim and I made the decision that we wanted to start working on having a family.

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving that we were able to share with Paula who came for a visit.

Danielle turned 18 and is looking forward to her first child in April.

Nikki had had a wonderful year in school and counties to do well.

So yes we have had some big down this year but we have also had some great high lights. I hope that everyone has a wonderful New Year.

Dear Man who flashed me on I-90. I was in the passenger side of my friends car, on a quiet saturday driving home from crossgates mall. I am usually driving, so i was taking this time as a passenger to take in the beauty that is I-90. As i am innocently gazing out my window, i notice a large blue chevy i belive pick up truck 2 lanes over. Normally i would of not looked twice but something caught my eye. You sir were waving wildly at me, thinking i might know you, i took my sunglasses off to get a better look at you. Some movement again caught my eye, you were no longer waving at me, but fiddaling with your pants. This should of been a sign to turn away, but i was confused. Thats when it happend. You some how managed to keep one foot on the gas, along with your right hand on the steering wheel. and in a matter of seconds were able to stand up with your whole front body facing me (which im still baffled how you managed to do this ans drive) you then started pelvic thrusting your 'cash and prizes' in my direction, while laughing hysterically, like i just opend a can of peanuts, but a snake made out of springs popped out. This action looked much like any movie where you see a male stripper pelvic thrusting, but unlike its done in the movies usually with the saftey of boxer shorts, or tight black pants like the Chippendales wear. Not you sir, no no. You had the pants, and the boxers pulled down, and your t shirt pulled up a little. I even saw belly button. This act lasted around 5, or 6 seconds, then you cowardly took the next exit to escape my face full of horror. Im sure scareing me for life is hilarious. and im not exactly sure what the thrill was of flashing me on I-90. Im sure it wasnt to impress a friend, because you were alone. And you were not an old guy, im sure you could of had a girlfriend, or a wife, so flashing a random 21 year old girl on the highway is a little baffaling to me. But this letter flasher guy, is not to express my anger twords you. Its to let you know, my friend that was driving is upset she missed this horrifying/hilarious act, and would like you to drive by us again, but this time on the driver side. Thanks buddy.

Merry Christmas Shannon

This weekend Shannon (sister-in-law) became a new mommy to a 3 1/2 month old Basset Hound that she named Pearl. Shannon fell in love with her the moment she set eyes on her. She is adjusting well to our family. Tina and Bristol are showing there new cousin the ropes. LOL.

Thanksgiving Holiday

Wonderful Thanksgiving. My holiday started on Wednesday, I got to sleep into until 8 or so and that was great. Paula and I went to Shannon M.'s going away party. Shannon changed jobs so now we will not be working together but she has moved on to a job that she finds more fulfilling. Anyway so we went to a Mexican restaurant and had a nice lunch with lots of the people I work with. It was really fun and I think that Paula enjoyed herself. After lunch Paula, Shannon and my self went for pedicures. That is always a good time. When we were done we ran over to the mall to meet with Shannon's in-laws so that Paula could see sweet baby Kendall. I am pretty sure Paula fell in love with her, but then who doesn't? When we were done there we went to Erin's to pick up the things we ordered from her Pampered Chef party. It was nice to visit with them for a few moments. Erin was slaving away in the kitchen and the kids were running around. It was a nice visit. So after running the roads all day with Paula we headed home for a night of cooking. We were so tired from our running around that we ordered pizza haha, It was good. Also I have to send a thanks out to Paula, while I was at work on Tuesday and she was stuck at our house all day she did all kinds of cleaning to include our laundry. I don't think Paula understands the meaning of relaxing. We are going to have to help her work on that. : ) So Wednesday night Shannon H and I made our pies and Paula made the jello. I also made twice backed Sweet potatoes. That was not easy, but it turned out to be really good.

Thursday was wonderful, can you guys believe that weather it was out of this world. We had the windows and doors open all day. The cooking went well Shannon, Paula and my self pulled it off with out any issues. We work well together as a team. We ended the night with a game. That was a lot of fun.

Friday morning is where the real fun began. Paula, Shannon and myself were all up at 3:30 am and out the door by 4:15. But little did we know we were late. The parking lot was full when we got to the mall at 4:45 and there was a line out the door. But we did get there early enough to receive the gift bags they were giving away. I would say over all the Shopping went smoothly and we did get some great deals. After about 5 hours of shop Paula the Shannon's (Shannon H and Shannon M) and my self hit the dinner in Central Park for some Brunch. I think a good time was had by all.

Things I learned from Black Friday this year.

1. Get up earlier, next year we are going to have to up our time by about 30 minutes.

2. Doesn't matter how warm it was the day before wear a jacket.

3. Don't dress alike. We didn't dress alike but there was a group of women in line in front of us that did. I think there was like 7 or 8 of them.

4. Don't listen to the rumors in the waiting line. We heard all kinds of rumors about how all the stores had to be open and who had what and what the sales were. Most of them were not true.

5. Don't even think about going to Cracker Barrel for Brunch on this day.....

I had a great time and I hope that everyone else did as well. I do hope to see some more of you out next year. If you start training now I know you will be ready haha.

This weekend went pretty good. Tim did catch some fish on his trip but he didn't take any pictures. I do have some pictures of baby Kendall that I will have to put up when I get some time. Tim and I came home early yesterday we had much to do to get ready for our guest. Paula my mother-in-law is going to be with us for Thanksgiving. This is the second annual Hanson Thanksgiving haha. I don't know if it will be any annual thing but I really do enjoy doing it. I did all of my grocery shopping with Shannon (may sis) yesterday and the store was crazy but we got through it. She also treated me to a manicure. So thank you Shannon for that. I also am working on my game plan for Friday. Anyone who knows me knows this is my all time favorite day of the year. I love shopping on this day. Last year was the first year Shannon (my sis) and Paula had ever gone shopping on Black Friday. Shannon M. (baby Kendall's mom) and I get up about 5 and meet with coffee at the mall around 5:45 and wait in line for the doors to open. Then we hit the stores hard until about 10 or 11 by they we have done most of our shopping for the upcoming Christmas and we grab a bit to eat and call it a day. So I have to start working on my shopping list. There are a few guidelines I like to use.

1. Have a list with items and estimated price.

2. Always buy something for your self first. (this is really important.)

3. Partner up with someone who shares the same passion.

4. Map of the mall always helps. (unless you are like me and already know where everything is.)

5. Have coffee.

6. Make trips to the car to unload bags and much as needed. (you are at a big disadvantage if you have a ton of heavy bags to carry.

7. Over all have fun.

8. Take long nap when you are done.

Going out of Town for the Weekend

Tim and I will be out of town this weekend. Tim is going to be in a fishing tournament with Shannon M.'s dad who name is also Tim. LOL! Tim has been looking forward to this for the past 3 months. I think Tim B. said that they came in second last year. So they are hopping to come in first this year. I will have to have Tim take pictures of the fish they catch so I can put them up on the blog when we get back. Well I hope that everyone has a great weekend, I know we will.

Well Monday Tim and I went back to the gym after not even thinking about working out for the past 3 weeks. Really I think it went pretty good. I only gained 1 pound and Tim was down .5 pound. Tuesday I went and had a massage, it was amazing. Thank you Olivia!!! It was one of the best hours ever, and I mean that I am not just saying that. Wednesday Tim and I had to meet with our financial adviser. It went pretty well, we have a good start one our savings but we will have to be a bit more aggressive if we want to meet our goals when we retire. It sounds like it is so far off but I look at it as a life time goal. In 35 years this is where I want to be. So yeah it is a long way off but I will always have something to work towards. I am lucky b/c Tim shares the same dream and is willing to work on this goal with me. Then on Thursday it was Shannon's (my sister-in-law) birthday. Shannon I hope that you had a wonderful day. I also stayed home from work I was having a CRAPPY day if you know what I mean (I had the craps haha). So yeah I stayed home. I didn't really do to much other then watch TV and hang out with Tina and Bristol. I cooked a pretty good dinner for Shannon's birthday, I think she liked it. And then we had cake not just any kind of cake it was the best cake ever. It was from Cold Stone. It was like eating chocolate and peanut butter heaven haha. Thank you Tim for bringing that home. Tonight Tim and I will be taking Shannon out to eat for her birthday. I really wish I could do more for her. I know it has to be hard to be away from all of her friends and most of her family. I hope to have a few guess with us for Dinner. Like Jenn, Shannon M w/ baby Kendall, Cindy and maybe her boyfriend Aaron. I think that would be a nice time. Oh after dinner Tim and I (maybe Shannon H if she is up for it) will go play a game or 2 of pool with Jenn and her date. That should be fun. Also I am really looking forward to Saturday night. Tim, Shannon H., maybe Shannon M w/baby Kendall and maybe Jenn will be going to E&J's Pampered Chef's party. I love that stuff and so does Tim and he as never been to one. So that is what is going on with me. I hope that everyone has a great weekend. I know I plan to. : )

A weekend to remember

First I would like to say Congratulations to Tim, he started a new job on Thursday. I am really happy for him and I hope that he enjoys it. To celebrate Tim's new job I took him down to Richmond for dinner. The restaurant that we were going to is located in Stony Point Fashion Park. Before we went to dinner Tim took me to the Coach store, I know I am totally spoiled. Here are some pictures of my new bag. I love it... Thank you Tim.

So after a little shopping trip we went to this great Italian restaurant. The mood was great the company was wonderful and our meal was out of this world. It was a very nice date night, something Tim and I haven't done in a while. We really enjoyed our self's.

Saturday we got up early to meet up with some of our friends and go on a hike. It was the perfect day. The weather was cool and refreshing. I do believe a good time was had by all. But I have to tell you I am feeling the hike now. My legs are killing me haha. But I guess there is no gain with out pain. I also want to thank J- for the planing of the hike. Thank you so much!!!.

I am still alive

I had to take a bit of a break from blogging. Tim and I have had a rough few weeks but things are getting back to normal. I have been thinking about what I was going to write in the post for a few days now, b/c there has been so much going on and I wasn't sure if I wanted to share it with everyone. But I feel like I should that way I can talk openly about my feelings. I mean this is my blog so I should be able to write about anything I want right?

I know that I posted a few months ago that Tim and were not going to be trying to have a baby but that we were not going to be preventing it either. Well back on Oct 11Th Tim and I found out that I was pregnant. I had very mixed emotions about it b/c just the day before we learned that my sister was going to be having a baby in April. I was a bit upset when I found out that my sister was going to have a baby b/c she is so young but I also feel like it is really important to try and support her through this. So yeah I was a bit mixed about how I felt about being pregnant. Tim was over joyed with the news, he has been on the baby kick for a while now. We had a doctors appointment on the 18Th and it went well the doctor seemed to think that everything was fine even though I had some light spotting. That weekend Tim and I had the girls ( my two sisters) at the house and we had told then about me being pregnant. They both were pretty happy for me and I was starting to really come around to the idea my self. However on Sunday the 21st I started bleeding really bad and had to go to the ER. They took blood test and did an ultrasound. They didn't see anything and my HGC levels came back really low. They told me I was having a natural miscarriage and there wasn't anything they could do for me. They sent me home and a few hours later I passed a really large blood clot, I was only about 5 weeks a long. (I am sure this is TMI) After that I started feeling much better but Tim and I were every upset. But at the same time we are glad that we didn't share our pregnancy with a lot of people because it was pretty hard to tell the people we had told that we had loss the pregnancy. I know in my heart that everything happens for a reason and when it is met to be for Tim and I we will be and if anything we will be more grateful. I have been lucky to find a board that I can post on with other women that have had unsuccessful pregnancies and that has really helped. I also would like to thank the few people that knew what Tim and I were going through and supported us. I am sure that we would have had support from all of our family and friends, but we just were not ready to share the news. I hope all of you who we didn't tell will understand.

Tim and I had a great weekend, we spent the weekend at E&J's. They went out of town for a wedding, Tim and I got to watch S&J. They were great. We really didn't have any tears all weekend. We also had Bristol with us. I think Bristol enjoyed the kids just as much as they enjoyed him. Over all it was a wonderful weekend.
