To Cut or Not to Cut... That IS the Question!

I know some of you have started to notice that Lily is at a crossroads when it comes to hair styles. To no fault of her own she has started to develop a Mullet... ok maybe it is more of a Scullet. She doesn't have very much hair on the top of her head but a good amount in the back, that seems to get longer everyday. Now if I continue to let this grow I going to have to live with the lasting effects it could have on Lily when she gets older and sees that I let her run around with a baby Mullet.

Lets just say I do decide to cut it... do I do it my self? I have no hair cutting experience... or do I take her some where to get it cut? Also if I do take her some where to get it cut are they going to look at me like I am crazy when they see that she hardly has any hair to start with? Any and all opinions on this are welcome.

And for your viewing pleasure....

Hey, not all Mullets are bad....

I am so glad you are opting to cut. Not that I have noticed Lily's hair getting long in the back but I just hate messy, mulletty hair on toddlers in general. Little short hairdos are so cute on baby girls while their hair is filling in. And you can accessorize with bows and barrettes and cute little hair do-dads.

I cut Sadie's myself. I felt like she would be more comfortable with me doing strange things to the back of her head. We put on The Wiggles and I sat her in front of me and just pinched little sections at a time between the first two fingers of my left hand and cut it the same basic length all over the back, leaving it a bit longer on the top and sides so it could grow into a bob. I suggest just trying it. You can't mess it up too badly when they have so little to work with, and you can always cut little bits at a time so you don't overdo it.

And then if you find you are uncomfortable with it, take her in somewhere and have them fix it! They have kids-only places out here that are so gentle and good with the little ones. I don't remember seeing any places like that in the burg, but they must have some in Richmond or Nova.
